Upgrade 74 Construction Update

Peoria, IL -

The westbound I-74 entrance ramps at Main Street and Camp Street in East Peoria, and the War Memorial Drive interchange in Peoria are expected to open late Wednesday, Nov. 22, as planned.

The following War Memorial Drive ramps will open on Wednesday:

I-74 Ramps

• Eastbound I-74 ramp to eastbound War Memorial Drive
• Westbound I-74 ramp to westbound War Memorial Drive
• Westbound I-74 ramp to eastbound War Memorial Drive

War Memorial Drive Ramps

• Westbound War Memorial Drive ramp to westbound I-74
• Westbound War Memorial Drive ramp to eastbound I-74
• Eastbound War Memorial Drive ramp to eastbound I-74

Several ramps were permanently removed from the War Memorial Drive interchange during reconstruction due to unsafe merges. When the interchange opens Wednesday, motorists will no longer be able to travel from eastbound I-74 to westbound War Memorial Drive or from eastbound War Memorial Drive to westbound I-74. Motorists should use the Sterling Avenue interchange as an alternate route for these exits. Images for all completed interchanges are available at www.upgrade74.com.

Additionally, from 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, through Sunday, Nov. 26, there will be no work on I-74, War Memorial Drive or IL-116 that impedes traffic due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Work zone speed limits will remain in effect. Have a safe and happy holiday.
