W. Shane Larson, P.E.

Operations Engineer, Illinois Department of Transportation--District Four

Shane serves as the Operations Engineer for the Illinois Department of Transportation in District Four. He has worked for the Department for ten years and currently oversees the Maintenance, Traffic, Bridge, and Communication Center Divisions.

Prior to his role as Operations Engineer, Shane served as a Maintenance Field Engineer and a Construction Supervising Field Engineer. He has been involved in statewide task forces on construction documentation and public relations.

A majority of Shane’s tenure with the Department has been spent in the Construction Division as a Resident Engineer. The major construction projects that he supervised include the reconstruction of the Morton Ave./I-74 interchange, IL 116 between Germantown Hills and Metamora, U.S. 34 from the Mississippi River to Carman Road, and the rehabilitation of the eastbound McClugage Bridge.

Shane graduated from Augustana College in 1991 with a BA in physics and from the University of Illinois in 1992 with a BS in Civil Engineering.
