With construction set to start on Forrest Hill, IDOT knew it was important to teach the children of Woodrow Wilson, a school that borders Forrest Hill, about the upcoming construction and how to be safe around work zones.

On October 7, 2002 the IDOT safety team conducted an assembly at Woodrow Wilson to inform children of the construction, to teach them to stay out of the work zones, and to instruct them to remind adults to drive safely and slowly while in a work zone. Each child then drew a poster on "what safety in construction zones means to me" and the winning posters, as judged by IDOT, will be displayed at the groundbreaking ceremony on October 21, 2002.
